Can someone provide me with a link or a document that states that the La Sportiva Glacier boot is NWCG approved for line Wildland Fire Fighting?

Also, does anyone know if the Glacier EVO is also apporved. Anyone used the EVO? Thoughts?

As I understand it, this boot is not NFPA certified, but Jumpers and Hot Shots have been wearing them with some success. But then again, they get away w/ a bit of a relaxed standard on 'regs'

AFAIK they are not NFPA certified. However, I have heard that they meet USFS regs for use (ie they have the 8" min height, the right type of sole, etc). Sorry I don't have confirmation on that, though.

regarding the La Sportiva's, they are USFS approved. Last summer there was an email that went around stating it was ok to use them. They have Vibram soles, and are 8 inches in height. We have guys that have been using them for about 3 years with mixed reviews. The soles are only sewn on, and not screwed and sewn like Whites and Nicks. A few guys have had the soles start to come off after 1 season. However they are supposed to be really comfortable and at a fraction of the price of other boots you can afford to replace them every year if need be.

Tyler....easy on the Jumper bashing...

Gnufish is correct in that they meet NWCG standards

Ah yes, I think it's the ones below size 8 or something that are less than 8" high (but I don't remember exactly). Thanks for the links guys.
