Are you looking for a search rope or a bailout rope or something to lift a downed fireman out of a hole?

Well I started out just looking for a "search" rope for the "RIT" but any input on any and all ropes that may be used for "RIT" would be appreaciated.
I am looking for info and ideas on what you all are using for the "RIT" team...
Not realy looking for Bail-Out rope info at this time...
Thanks

I am at this time looking for "Search Rope" to be carried with our "RIT" gear. We have at this time four sets of "RIT" gear, one on each of our Engines and one on our Ladder Truck. At this time I am thinking about getting 4 - 100 to 150 ft 3/8" or so search lines with an eye on each end... one for each unit. I kinda like the PMI "Search Line" with the Kevlar core. I also would like this line to be reflective. I need to get this "search line" ASAP and I plan on adding "Tag Lines" and such in the future. This is what came out of our Staff meeting about one hr ago.
Any input would be appreciated...we have NOT bought anything yet.

Why? Firefighter survival skills should hopefully come into play before a mayday is called and the RIT or FAST team is activated. Not having a bailout rope defeats some of the survival skills that we are taught and know. I feel every firefighter should have to have a rope bag. I would consider getting some.

Why...because that is NOT what we are getting at this time. Plus I have tons of info and such on Bail-Out ropes, kits and systems.

Do you understand where I'm coming from? As I said i feel firefighters need to have this. Do you want your people jumping out of windows?

Yes I do and I do appreciate your input.
But at this time I am not looking for a Bail-Out rope. If I posted a request for an Engine (pumper) would you insist that I get info on a Ladder Truck because we all know that FDs need both to operate?
My Boss wants me to buy "Search Rope" for the RIT...nothing else at this time.
Thanks

At my department I went out and bought 300ft of 1/2" rope for our RIT search rope. Then every 25' I tied a directional eight pointing out. This way if a firefighter was to come across our rope they could get out easier. Also this allows the search team totie in to the rope with their personal rope bags to search off of the search line. Hope this helps. Summitt
