I'm a Lt on a mid size career dept.(104 FFs).We have received a Multi purpose vehicle (city won't let us call it a Rescue). It is a Pierce 4 place cabover and a 27 box with roll ups. We are now stocking it with tools and rescue equipment. I would like some help as to what tools all you other established rescue companies have on board. Would it be possible to get your inventories, and maybe some hints as to what you initialy put on and took off due to use or non use. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The FAMA web site has some great Excel files for rescues, engines, aerials atc. for laying out equipment for all apparatus. Lists everything that you might want to carry on each truck, gives size and weight and will let you total cubic feet and weight.

Here are two websites with some info. The first one is from Pittsburgh EMS - part-way down the page is a link to their rescue truck inventory.

http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/ems/html/heavy_rescue_unit.html

The second one is a link to the PA Dept. of Health's Rescue Certification program requirements. In the appendix is the minimum equipment needed to be certified by Pennsylvania.

Good luck, and stay safe!

In North Carolina, we have the following resources to cover light, medium, heavy rescue and specialty ratings as well.
