It's actually not the official day (November 7th was, actually) but this weekend we celebrate 125 years of the Joplin FD. A little history on the department form the local paper. (http://www.joplinglobe.com/local/local_story_319222056.html)
It made me wonder, how many guys know the history behind their FD? The article only touches on the history of JFD. Chief Perkins (mentioned in the article) did a powerpoint for us that was very good and very informative. I'm going to try to do some research on my vollie department and see what I can find out.
