The test is being given the day after St. Patrick's Day, terrific.

Anyone have any info on this place? I can't seem to get any from the city's website. Salary, benefits, requirements (age, qualifications, etc.).

Thanks.

NYC

I work at a neighboring department, not North. I think they start at $45-48,000
a year. That doesn't include overtime, I don't think there is a age requirment.
Because their last academy had some late 30's early 40's year olds.
There benefits mirror ours which are very good. Retirement is a state PERS system 75% at 25 yrs. Their present chief has really turned their department around for the better. The guy's I've talked with over there have nothing but good things to say about him. Hope this helps.

The North Las vegas written test is on the 18th, and another on the 20th. I am not sure if there are more then 2 test days... but I know I test on the 18th and my friend test on the 20th.

I'm scheduled to take the test on the 19th. The fitness assessment will follow the test immediately as long as you score a 90%. I'm kind of worried about the stretching part of this assessment - you have to be able to stretch you fingertips almost 3" past your toes, and I'm not quite there yet. Hopefully I can get stretched out enough in the next week and a half.

Good Luck to all!!

exactly 2.8 inches past, and need to hold it for 2 seconds....

this is going to suck, I have been trying to practice it and am no where close to it... guess I am going to have to pull a hammy to get there...

Yeah I have been working on the stretching also. It is hard to get that far! I am also having trouble with the 40 push-ups,(I am at about 28) I am in pretty good shape and have been a firefighter for 3 years but still find that hard. Is anyone else having trouble? Let me know if you have any advice.

I just suck at the stetching...

as for the pushups.... just crack em out.... I hate push ups, but from what I have been told about preparing for the push ups, is to do them all the time. if you can do 28, do sets of 25 multiple times a day... that might help... then increase the numbers per set untill u can do 40 at a steady pace... good luck

Yeah that's what I've been trying to do. Hopefully I can get up to 40. I am getting nervous since it is only 7 days away. Good luck!

Anyone hear how many NLVFD is going to hire over the next year? Not sure if they are having the huge budget cuts like the City of Las Vegas.

I am currently in the hiring process with NLVFD. I work out in So Cali, but am looking to go to the Vegas area, due to the rapid expansion and new equipment. I have talked to captains, cheifs, and ffs that work for that city and they have nothing but good things to say. They are a great group of guys. Does anybody else have any input on this dept? How many acadamies they want to have off this list. I know that 90 people made it into band I with 7 medics and orals are next week.

Thanks for your input.
