Default looking for a grant - fitness equipment

How does one, where does one go to find out about grants that are available for purchases fitness equipment.

Like everyone else, we are trying to get on board with a more fit fire house but lack the funding for equipment.

thanks

I can share a narrative we used for a fire act grant, several years old but it was awarded. Contact me off list. mtetreault@londonderrynh.org

Check with the local gyms and see if they have anything available too. When they renovated a chain location near us they asked us if we wanted anything since part of the renovation was all new equipment. Otherwise might have to start smaller with Wal-Mart's monthly handout or their foundation grant.

DOD surplus has a nearly unlimited supply of commerical fitness equipment. Regular replacement program. Go thru you state forester.

I got a semi (moving van) load off an aircraft carrier when they did refit after a cruise. Strength and cardio.

dept of defense; FEEP program if your state forester has the personnel with time to spend getting salvage for the cost of transportation.

Neiowa is the FEPP God he can find a needle in a big haystack. He has a great article in which he just about built a complete water system and fire department for his town. Excellent job of using the resources available.

I agree with BC79er, We approached a 24 Hour Fitness that was updating their equipment and they donanted all we could handle to fill up our gym. This equipment was barely 5 years old.

FEPP (Fedearl Excess Property Program) is the equipment loan program. Has been around since soon after WWII. There is a new program (where FD can obtain at a higher priority level and you get title) called FFP (Fire Fighter Program (I think)).

You likely will have to transport (unless your state provides your forester with $) from the DOD depot to your station. Typically only have 2weeks (or less) from allocation (approval notice) to get it off the military base by whatever method you chose. That includes getting thru whatever security BS the base may have and working around the schedule of the DOD civilian "workers".

I got Mayflower Van Lines to provide a moving van which hauled the fitness equipment from Va to Ia. With some calling around you may be able to find a local truck line or manufacturer that will do a backhaul for free or reduced rate. Has worked for me several times. Local factories that run their own trucks are a good resource for backhaul as they will not wait around for a load coming back toward their home base and will run empty.
