Decscribe for me your ultimate CS trng. prop. What would you definitely include?

hey dude, funny you mention it, as we (Washington County Special Operations Team)just finished building a great training prop. It consists of several hundred feet of rubber and steel corrugated pipe of sizes ranging from 36" to as narrow as 18". It includes vertical shafts and concrete vaults. We also constructed a wood deck with about a 10' vertical drop through a "manhole". The maze itself has about 4 or 5 points to access the interior in case of a problem or to simulate another type of scenario. It rocks!!

I've got that beat. We have a Nuclear Power generating plant that was decommissioned 6 years ago in our district. After three years of negotiations, we have permission to use this facility for rescue training. The facility remains lighted, heated, and maintained by Public Service Company because it would cost Millions ($) to tear it down. The facility is 14 stories above ground and 5 level below grade. It has an elevator and about 3,964 various scenario possibilities. There is also an unused visitor center across the street with full classroom and A/V facilities. I literally have a key to the building and close to free access. So far we've taught Rappelling, rope rescue I, rope rescue II and confined space rescue as two day weekend class each.

One more advantage to having trained there. Our ropes now glow in the dark so we can see them at night better.

JUST KIDDING!!!! Sounds like you have your hands on a great resource. Make sure you share with others around you so they can benefit from the experience. Make sure your insurance is paid up.

I thought I had the best site, but I'll admit defeat to your Nuclear Power Plant.

We have a decomissioned Titan II Nuclear Missile base here, which consists of three 160 foot deep silo's, control domes, empty fuel and propellant tanks, and acres of tunnels. All underground. We do Rescue Systems and Confined Space rescue classes there.

You've never seen dark until you're down there with the lights out!
