Post Wildland Injury

Looking for info. on a firefighter injured in western Nebraska (last week?) on a 2000 acre grass fire. The information I have so far is that the firefighter was riding on a front bumper mounted seat or cage and was thrown from the engine. It's amazing that we all pretty much agree that it isn't safe to ride the tailboard anymore but somehow it's OK to be unbelted on the bumper of a 4x4 bouncing across some field. When are we going to make that leap as well?
