Default new products & vehicles

I find very interesting the new products and vehilces delivered but feel that the information, no only in FIREHOUSE but also in other publications containing such information, the estimated cost for such item for the new items and the purchase price for new purchases.
Without such information those of us involved in making purchasing decisions can not truely judge wiether or not we are getting value for the dollars spent.
I do realize that when purhasing vehicles that for the most part each vhicle is different from another but being able to see a spread of prices over time would be a great help in making judgements that are not now possible.
as to new equipment, when someone sees something of interest I believe that a suggested list price or other type information would be helpfull in making decisions to look into that item.

I agree with Doug that seeing prices mentioned in product announcements would help with the buying decision, BUT the dealers and manufacturers will probably disagree. The seller wants the opportunity to develop product interest and desire BEFORE the issue of 'can I afford it?' is addressed. It might be interesting if Firehouse could undertake a study of people who submit items for the New Product articles to determine if they would consider allowing the inclusion of suggested list or average street prices in their product announcements. It would possibly help if the magazines would require that a price be shown before an item would be written up.
Another pet peeve of mine is the failure of manufacturers to include 800 phone numbers when they have them. Many of the advertisers have them but seem to want to keep them a secret. Why??
Hey Firehouse - what do you think?
