You can contact your local insurance companies. Most have a defensive driving course for truck drivers.

V.F.I.S. offers an EVOC course here in PA, I'm sure they offer it wherever they serve.

How about setting up your own, on an abandoned or otherwise empty parking lot. The EVDT (emergency vehicle driver training) material that we use comes with a layout plan that shows you how to place your cones, including measurements. Takes about an hour or so to set up with a couple of guys. Sorry I don't have a copy of that layout, maybe someone else can help out with this.

Regards,

Mike

Here's a link for a Driver's Course from the National Fire Academy. The materials are free, and it also shows the set up for a practical skills course. I believe it is to the VFIS Insurance program. Best of all, it's free. In fact, it's posted in PDF format, but you'll need a copy of Acrobat Reader. The download includes overhead masters in addition to the student and instructor materials.
NFA Publications page

Click on the "shop for publications" link at the bottom of the page. After you go to this page, then click on search and enter "driver training". That should get there.

Thumbs up Drivers Training

Safe driving is near and dear to me as it is very important that we arrive at the scene and be part of the solution and not a new problem in addition to the reason we are called out upon in the first place. Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, or EVOC training is available. The Ohio Fire Academy in Columbus may assist you in getting an instructor for an outreach program. good luck and be safe!
