Driver Safety Policy - Firehouse Forums

I'm currenty a second year student in the Executive Fire Officer Program in Emmitsburg. To complete this year's assignment, I need to write a research paper. I would like to find information defining different fire departments policies and procedures to assure driver's safety. My main focus will be the safe operation of a department vehicle. I'm interested in all departments, no matter the size. Driver safety effects us all. The NFA has a five-year goal of reducing firefighter deaths by 25%. I beleive that if we can prevent driving accidents, we will come very close to meeting their goal. I always wanted to be 1st at something! We have a weak written policy, that mostly follows stae law (not more than 10mph over posted speed). It is more CYA than a useful, thoughful policy.
