Default Employment in Washington State

Greetings to All,

I will be moving to Washington State this year, probably around June.

My question is: "What are the chances of being appointed to a career department in/around the Seattle area?"

Personal info - I am 52 years old, have 15 years of active firefighting experience and am willing to acknowledge I will be a rookie.

I met a firefighter from the Vancouver, Washington area recently and he claimed that career departments in that area were indeed hiring "old guys".

Is this true and honestly, what are my chances?

Thanks for any information.

Regards,

Jim Boyle (aka 1261Truckie)
