Thumbs up Nice ride Northwood

Your temporary replacement for 806 looks pretty good. How is it?

Well, we can't mount equipment, have to hook our radio up via the cigarette plug, brakes take a while to get used to and stink like crazy. Will get up and go, but it takes a lil bit just because it shifts through the gears quick. It does turn excellent though. Still not sure the size of tank on it. Pump is very loud when it is throttled up.

It's not too bad. It runs and will work for the daytime crew. I'd like to see how she works on a fire. (Since we finally got to use the Mini-Pumper last week on our fully-involved mattress fire)

Moe, don't it look like a tanker???????

A little bit. I think it's a cool truck. 730 liked it too.

Anybody gonna have it at Station 2 tonight? I'd like to get a closer look.

Default 806 -1/2

Moe, don't it look like a tanker???????

I think so too!

I don't like it. It's gonna suck if we have to keep it for a long time. There's no generator or outlets, no rear discharges, no air horns, and if we can't mount anything on it, the compartments will be a mess. The SCBA's have to be kept in there cases, and put in a side compartment.

'77 have you figured out what kind of shore plug that is?

No stereo either, how am I gonna listen to Bob and Tom in the mornings?

I guess it's better than nothing and it is brand new. I guess will see.

It's a goofy shoreline plug....... that's what it is.

I just talked to 103 and we are going to have to contact them tomorrow to make sure that is the intent of it. If so, we'll have to make a pigatil to plug into the shoreline to use........

Maybe we can use that bracket in the center of the seat for the SCBA?!?!?!

It does have AC. I was using it today on my travels in it. Lack of power windows and locks sucks, also.........

And I've been thinking about the lack of Stereo init......... I wonder if one of our peoples' kids have one of them lil boom box looking things that are kinda small and can maybe be velcored to the dash........ How about one of your, 159??? And no Hello Kitty, either!!!!

I like it, the only thing is the two person cab, what the heck is two guys going to do with a truck that big. If it had a four man cab that would be great. I like it better than the mini-pumper only if it had a four man cab, I'm not a mini-pumper fan anyway. It does look like a tanker, maybe you guys can start a new ALS Rescue-Tanker concept like the Rescue-Engine.

How do you guys utilize that unit anyway? How will it respond and to what type calls.

It responds to all calls in the city M-F 0800-1700. On EMS runs, initiate pt. care until your transport unit arrives. On fire runs, use your common sense. If it's something small (i.e. car fire, dumpster, outdoor, etc.) start extinguishment/containment and use the volunteer back-up as needed. If it's a structure, just do what you have to do. Lay supply line, get SCBA on, pull attack lines, be ready to start attack when your next in arrives. If people trapped, do what you gotta do.

As bad as it sounds, much of it will depend on the crew and their confidence in their ability to make the decisions on what they can and cannot handle on their own.

The other thing we have to eventually think about is placement of ALS equipment in the winter months. I assume it doesn't have heated compartments.

As far as the "boombox" goes I have bring one on Thurday.

I agree that the two-person cab is not ideal. I suppose I am in the minority but I like the mini-pumper concept (as long as you can get a mini-pumper that works).

No heated compartment. Hopefully they will decide what they are going to do and get us one that works before it gets too cold.

I like the IDEA of a mini-pumper, but they just can't handle the weight for what we are doing with it. I still say we get an urban-interface type unit........
