Thumbs up City Pikeville has new equipment!

Fire Dept. Adds New Technology For Trench Rescues
Dec 2, 2005

Pikeville firefighters say more and more construction is going on in the city, and that could potentially lead to an increase in construction site accidents.

The firefighters are getting more training and new technology for trench rescues, when people are trapped by a building or ground collapse.

City officials bought the fire department new equipment to replace their old rescue methods. Officials say the new equipment will help them set up faster, so they can save a life faster.

The equipment cost 18-thousand dollars and the city of Pikeville paid for it.

Firefighters say they will have more trench rescue training in the spring.
