    Default Hiring

I have a friend on the department and he told me that rumors are that a class next year could be in the works. Like all of you we will just have to wait and see I guess.

It's the retirement system for Wa State FF.
There is a change under way to the medical benefits for retiring members, which will (most likely) result in an increase in members retiring.
So that (may) result in more job openings.
I know guys, I feel your pain.

Default Anyone hear new info on 2010 new hires testing

Hello, I applied in 2008, passed written, passed PAT & was given a letter stating that I was in the "hiring pool" awaiting Oral Board date when received a letter on Feb. 19th 2009 stating that the "state funds were frozen" and that there was to be no class/training for 2009. Through rumor mill, heard that possible 20-30 were to retire, opening spaces for 50-60 new hires. Has anyone heard the same? And, if so, what does this timeline look like and will they go back to this last testing (from 2008), and start there? Or, will those in this previous hiring pool have to start from scratch? Does anyone also know if they are using the 9th edition test manual if they redo the testing process? I tremendously appreciate any info/insight regarding this matter. Many thanks, John Kamas

These are all great questions jkintac77. We have the same questions, it sounds as though there will be another year with out hiring. However it is always subject to change. The city budget is still way down and there has been some restructuring. So, hang in there budy it's a great department.
