Dog Pack Attacks Gator In Florida
At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a certain justice manifested within that cruelty.
The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered the 'apex predator', can still fall victim to implemented 'team work' strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social structure and 'survival of the pack mentality' bred into the canines.
See the remarkable photograph below courtesy of Nature Magazine. Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from breathing, while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from thrashing. The third dog attacks the soft underbelly of the gator.

Simply disgusting!! Where is PETA!! You'd think they'd be on this for those terribly vicious domesticated K9's attacking a helpless endangered animal!

You got me.
I was afraid it was going to be a Pit Bull bashing thread (of which I own two).
And PETA is NOT our friend....trust me.

I like the People Eating Tasty Animals bit. What is the other PETA?

I don't know if you are kidding (internet changes things) but PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Unfortunately, they are not who they present themselves to be. This is one of many websites that many people involved with animal rescue, such as myself, like people to see.

I thought it would be something like that - but it was an honest question. I'd never heard of them. Not that I'd be likely to take much notice if I had!
Don't get me wrong - I'm not in favour of mistreating animals. I've always lived with animals around, just a cat now. But I also call my animals 'pets', 'companion animal' has just too many syllables!"Professional" means your attitude to the job...
