Our department is researching info to be used in developing specs on a second ladder to add to our department. We are intersted in a 100ft stick on a single axle chassis thus allowing a shorter wheelbase, less maintenance and so on. By what we find, in order to get the single axle we have to get a 250# ladder. I know many major departments utilize the 250# ladder (FDNY, Louisville, etc etc) but I'm looking for pro's and con's other than the obvious that I maybe haven't thought of. What do you think?
