i have kicked around the idea of moving in a few years to the houston area. i know some of the bigger city's have "recruiters" to help with application and moving details. is there anything like that for houston?
thanks

I think you just missed the non-certified test. But, they will probably have another one this year. Look up houston fire and they have a recruiting office you can call. Or, just post questions here and they should get answered

I think last year, they did at least 2 non-certified tests, maybe 3 and 1 certified test

one is for people with certs and one is for people without....
people who take the certified test go through a 4 month academy and orientation period.
people who dont have certs go through a 9 month...The Box. You opened it. We Came...

A couple years is almost too far to plan ahead for HFD. It seems as if policies and so forth are changed on a yearly basis. There is also no set number of classes per year. Usually ends up with about 3 full academy classes and 1 or 2 fast-track class for TCFP certified. If you are seriously interested, I would start the process about a year before hand. You would have to talk to a recruiter for civil service and PAT test dates.
