The link on their website to access the application isn't working. : /

Do you work there? Have any information on the process or how many that they are looking to hire? Also, are there any requirements? Doesn't say anything on the site.

If at first you don't suceed try another route. I too found the link not working and just called. The lady who is the contact is more than happy to help you. The only requirement she said was and age one and it was 21-35. If you call her, she will send you the study guide AND the application to fill out in the mail, if you do it the other way and not talk to her and download it and fax it or mail it, you will waiting for your app. to make it to them and then wait again for the study guide to arrive. And yes she did tell me that they just hired people on, but that their last list expired in March 2008 and they have a few retiring in the not too distant future and needed to have another list ready. She didn't give me a number though.

But if you really want the link here it is:

    http://www.ci.sandusky.oh.us/documen...pplication.pdf

That'll be the application they send to you.

I'll call on Monday, but do you happen to know if it's 21 by date of hire? Or is it when the app is due? I'll be 21 in September so I might not make it.

Anyone know what the pay scale is like there?

Is it just FF or FF/EMT-B?

    Thanks,

    Martan

You do not have to be Medic or EMT or FF to get hired but it sure does help.

The SFD runs EMS BLS / ALS ambulances.

About 3500 EMS runs a year and about 1500 Fire runs a year.

Thanks, but are new firefighting recruits also required to become EMT's as well?

Anyone know what the salary for Sandusky firefighters is?

    Thanks all,

    Martan

Yes. Sandusky FFs are all EMT-B or Medics about 50/50. You can be hired with out training but as stated above you will have a better chance of getting on if you have FF-II and EMT or Medic.

Yeah but that says fire calls not structure fires. It could be anything from a service call for an engine to wires down or a grass fire.

specialed, what do you mean you heard 2?

how does everyone think they did on the test today? i don't think there was even 150 people there cause i counted tables when the last few people were filing in.

did anyone finish the visual part of the test with the line following? i only got about 22 out of the 30 questions done making sure i got them all right...i wish i would have watched the clock closer but oh well.

30 people advancing out of 150-165 is pretty good odds...
