Our current Pay rate goes as follows:

    Probationary Firefighter: $8.88
    Regular Firefighter: $11.41
One year Anniversary raise: $12.70 (top pay for 10 years, then $15 a week longevity)

    Town pays 50/50 on health.

1-6 Years gets 96 Vacation hours a year, 12 sick hours a month. Sick time accrues up to 1300 hours i think, vacation must have written approval to carry overr to the next year. 6-10 years get 192 hours vacation(I think)

We just ratified our new contract, which gives us a 3.5% raise each July for the next 3 years, and changes longevity from 10 years to 5 years and 10 years. Vacation time has also been changed so that the extra 2 weeks vacation is received on the 5th year of service, rather than 6th.

New contract takes effect in July.

We are a small Combi department with 7 career Engineers and a Chief.

Also, for what its worth, we don't do EMS (yet) and still provide dispatch services to the police... so we're pretty unique, although we are trying to get it changed.

    Stay safe

Starting Salary for a newbie is $50,180.
Our health benefits($1 prescription, name or generic), dental, eye are covered entirely by the city even if you have dependents. The city also pays for our life insurance ($100,000, double indemnity). We receive clothing allowance of $700/yr. 14 paid holidays, with 2 "super holidays" paid at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We also have sick leave bonus which you can make $50 every 2 months without using sick time and if you use 3 or less all year, you will recieve an extra $300. If you want to know more, pm me and I"ll give you the entire run down of our contract.
