    Default Scott SCBA Trouble

This may not be the right place to post this but I did not see any forum for equipment? Anyway, we have six Scott SCBA we bought new in 2004 with the AFG grant. The units have the build in HUDS. The problem is the wire going into the battery housing for the HUDS are cracked and frayed. One unit you can see bare wire. We have three units out of six that the HUDS will not work any more. Was wondering if any one else may be experiencing this trouble?

    Thanks gang,

Yep, most of the packs at my paid department are doing this. It is a common problem with those packs. We also had trouble with our buddy breathing connection clips just like everyone else and SCOTT fixed that by putting them into pouches. We haven't had any problems out of the ones that they fixed.

Call your dealer. I just saw a notice at work about a recall for problems on some of those, but I'm not sure what wires.

    Halligan,

If you get time would you mind checking to see what packs had the recall and what it was for.

    Thanks, stay safe,

    Question

I think the recall was for the high pressure hoses as opposed to wiring... If we're talking about the same thing.

    Scott Technical Bulletin TB 20080805

Anti Rotation Clamp for the electrical connection found on LP hoses used on SCBA equipped with HUD. You can order them through the form that I have or call 1-800-247-7257. Sounds like the ones that broke are being fixed under warranty, that's how they found the problem.

I have not seen that problem. Ill check ours next time I am at work. Its possible it could be your retention system. I think the new NFPA required pack holders with the strap may be causing your issue. We still use the slide in type restraints with no belts. It also could be where your top tank clip is relationship to the mask. Especially if its happened to more than one mask. Dont worry about the fraying, it wont impact the mask operation, or the PASS, those are both independent systems.
