    Default 24/24 Schedule

Can anyone run down the 24on-24 off schedule? Don't you get 3 off in a row and 5 off in a row somewhere in that rotation?

All depends on where you work! You will have "Kelly" days, but different places do them differently.
Just someone trying to help! (And by the way....Thanks for YOUR help!)

I used to work this schedule at Newport Naval Base. It goes as follows

on, off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on off, on, off, off, off. You get a 5 day break something like every 3 months. I might be a little off on this whole thing, but I know I am close. The 2 on 3 off is really cool, especially if people travel a good distance to work.

    Late,

As the other gentlemen said, there are different variations of the godforsaken 24/24 schedule. I have worked the following three versions:

    1. "5 and 3" ON off ON off ON off ON off ON off off off
I think every 5th or 6th week you got a kelly day, giving you 5 straight days off. This was the BEST schedule I worked!!!! REST IN PEACE, NAVAL AIR WARFARE CENTER AIRCRAFT DIVISION, WARMINSTER PA. FIRE DEPT. Bucks County Engine Co. 69!!!!

    2. The Philadelphia Naval Shipyard FD works 4 and 3 (if I remember right???) ON off ON off ON off ON off off off.
Every 5 or 6 weeks you work 24 shifts straight through with no more than 24 hrs off in between shifts. This one was the WORST SCHEDULE I ever had the displeasure of working.

    3. The US Army FD at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. works a 7 group 24/24 chart. You work 4 shifts, off for 2 (ON off ON off ON off ON off off.) Once every 6 weeks you work 5 straight with no more than a 24hr break, but then the following rotation you get whats called a "long weekend"- FRI SAT SUN MON off. Always those 4 days. This schedule was ok....I liked having 3 days off back in the Navy days.

Either way you slice it though, 24/24 SUCKS!!! I never minded the 24 hr shift, but one day to recuperate blew!!!

Is there anything that is not confusing with Federal Firefighting??

With schedules like that, how many times have you showed up for work on a non-scheduled day?
