Could someone help me with some more volunteer depts around the south suburbs? I live in Orland Park. Currently getting my app done for Tinley Park. I want to send out a bunch and not really sure where else to apply. I am digging through these threads, but I want to make sure I don't miss any depts close by. I have 3 years of volunteer experience and am starting my EMT B in January. Thanks for any help.

    Default Volunteer ?

Good luck trying to volunteer around here. If anyone can name more then a few volunteer departments in Chicagoland they are sharper then me. Now if you want to become a PART-TIME firefighter then you will have plenty of opportunities around here.

I guess I should have said volunteer, poc or part time. Part time would actually work out better for me. I just figured it would be easier to get on with a volunteer department. Do most part time gigs want you to have your FFII and EMT-P already?

I should have said that the further you get away from Chicagoland, the easier it will be to find a volunteer fire dept.

Some prefer medic and FF-II, but most will hire and send you to the academy.
