Neighbor department was awarded a tanker grant 2008....the lucky dog....but got cut back to 200,000...........was asking for 213,000......
he's not complaining...just looking to see if anyone knew of a cap on these type vehicles....
Question 2: he asked for this vehicle loaded with equipment....is it better to ask for the cost of vehicle and the equipment be a separate item????? Has anyone tried this before...I'm thinking ahead to next year.....I need a new truck really bad...

No one has been awarded anything for 2008 just yet, but I assume you mean he was sent questions?
Equipment is a separate line item in your budget. If you need equipment, it should be listed separate of the vehicle and explained in your narrative.

There is a cap, but in previous years it was closer to $250,000. It all depends on what you requested exactly on your dropdown choices.

My 2007 Tanker grant project was $244,000 with NFPA 1901 equipment which included SCBA's. This was for a 3000gal elliptical tank on a International 7600 chassis
from KME.
We should be taking delivery in September. Pictures to follow.

Added @ 14:15 - This is how I worded my narritive:
"New NFPA compliant fire service tanker with pump, capable of carrying a minimum of 3000 gallons of water complete with NFPA 1901 equipment so that the tanker can be placed into service immediately after delivery and completion of specialized training for the tanker."Last edited by mmcneill; 06-19-2008 at 03:17 PM.

The DHS cap also depends on how they spec'd the truck. If it's just a 2 door water mover with a portable pump, probably was the reason as those aren't as much as a 4dr tanker with PTO pump.
