We requested 4 firefighters. Lost out last year, but did not get the DJ until May. I hope notifications are faster this year.

That's why I started that SAFER 2008 thread. Just sent of #713, so we're climbing, just not as far along as I would have expected. Then again, we wouldn't be the fire service if we didn't wait until the last minute to do something.

I just peeked at the 2005 Safer Report, and in 2005 there were a total of 2985 applications (1645 Hiring, 307 Hiring & Recruitment, 1033 Recruitment).
We've got a long way to go... Time to order a Guinness and sadle up to the waiting bar again.....

Total of 1700+ in 2006, just over 1500 in 2007. Will be interesting to see how the $$ value of the hiring apps is over the past few years with the drop in the economy. Would have thought that the R&R app totals would be running like mad for the same reason. 4 years of free money is enough to motivate me.

#1085. Also about the number of times I beat my head on the desk over that one. 76 departments, like nailing Jell-O to a tree to get it together. Luckily had a lot of local help in the area from a few bodies that got the info together. Almost done making sure people are dunking the apps, then it's off to celebrate. After moving furniture....

Just did 1120 myself, and got 2 chiefs sending it themselves. My last two before I can relax. Until I realize I have CEDAP to finish, then USDA apps...

#1292 with 3 minutes 12 seconds remaining.
I was trying to hold off as long as possible to get an application count, but that last 2 minutes scares me -- we know the history all too well!
Looks like it'll be 1300 for the year.

With all 0's on the clock, #1302. For some reason, the system kicked me off and wouldn't let me get logged back in until after time expired. But, it let me finish it somehow.
