Not like doing something at the last minute, but reading over my application and have a question. NFPA 1720 for a vlounteer fire department with one engine, one command/support vehicle and one squad, what would be the ideal number of active firefighters to comply with 1720. Thanks for the help.

If you're in a rural area with less than 500 residents/sq mi then it's 6 in 14 minutes. They don't really harp on the 4 on the initial attack unit as much because of perceived travel distances. Suburban is 4 on initial attack, 10 total by the 10 minute mark. Urban is 15 in 9 minutes, 4 on initial attack.
The ideal number under the R&R activity question has to go by how many you have now, and how many tend to show up on average. If you have 30 and only 5 show up on average then simple math says to double the one double the other to 60 as the ideal. But more realistic would be at least another 10 with the hope that 5 out of the 10 can make a good amount of calls to bring you up to a 10 average.
