Could just be a rumour, but I heard someone call into the radio station this morning and say that 6 U-Haul trucks "melted" (the caller used the word melted). Here's your sign ....
Gas thief catches on fire
Published: Monday, June 30, 2008
A 38-year-old man is in hospital with burns after police say he caught on fire after siphoning gas from cars.
A 4 a.m. today, Victoria police received two calls of vehicles on fire, one in the 3100-block of Douglas Street and the other at the U-Haul Depot at 790 Topaz Ave.
Police believe a man siphoning gas from rental trucks started a fire in one of the U-Haul vehicles. The man fled in a second vehicle but the fire spread to the car he was driving.
He bailed out of the vehicle and attempted to extinguish the flames. He was taken to hospital by ambulance and is facing criminal charges.
