I know CT Firefighters have plenty to talk about. Let's try to get something going. CT fire issues, hiring, training and networking. I'll start...
My name's Pete I volunteer for Hamden and instruct for their FF Training program. Just finished 4 years in the USAF as a firefighter. I am a federal consultant for the State Military Dept on fire/life Safety issues. I know that South District Middletown and Guilford are hiring right now. I'll be taking South test....if you took the Bristol Test it will be close to the same thing. Hope to hear from some of you!
Pete

Good luck to anyone who took the Bristol test. as of now, it's only an eligibilty list. However, we are in arbitration for our contract so if we get a lousy settlement with the arbitrator, we may have some guys go under the old contract. They're doing interviews all week this week. I guess 85 was the cut off on the written.
Good Luck

Anybody have any idea on how often you will see the test that they had in Bristol? I wasn't the biggest fan of the memorization part. First time I had seen that before. Needless to say that brought my score down quite a bit and I missed the cutoff....

I think you will see that test in Meriden as well. Anyone know how long it usually takes to get results back from the oral board in Bristol???

Meriden just did their testing last year.* So probably not until the summer of '09...

The "type" of test you saw in Bristol is the most popular amoung Connecticut fire depts. That same test has been around for 20 years with some variations.

Hello Everyone! Newbie Here.
Any well connected members hear of any hiring going on in Southeastern CT soon? Just got my CPAT & EMT-B and no-one seems to be hiring. Im #30 on New London's list. That captain bob stuff didn't seem to help me in the oral. Thanks for any info or advice guys!

I think New London and Willimantic are the only two depts that are paid in that area. You might have to open up your horizons. Norwich also but they just tested recently.

Norwich is a great paid department and that's my ultimate goal to get into. I dont wanna move from Norwich, but will if I get into a decent paid department.
