We regret to advise you that a volunteer firefighter has died after collapsing while operating at a fire in Ukiah, Mendocino County, Calif. The Anderson Valley (CA) FD says 63-year-old Robert Roland died in the Line of Duty at the hospital on Thursday morning. The cause of death has not yet been determined, but was likely heart-related. The all-volunteer fire company of 41 Firefighters was and still is battling a 550-acre blaze, one of hundreds started by recent lightning storms. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger released a statement saying he is "deeply saddened" by FF Roland's death and that flags at the state capitol will fly at half-staff to honor the firefighter.

Just saw this posted on IACOJ.

After seeing the California fires on the news last night, I'm not shocked this has happened.

My deepest sympathies to the Anderson Valley Fire Department and the Roland family for their loss.

Sleep with angels, Robert.

STAY SAFE OUT THERE, YOU GUYS!
