    "Thank you for your interest in employment as a Pittsburgh Firefighter Recruit. We are currently accepting online applications for Firefighter. The recruitment period will end November 14, 2008. The tentative written examination date is Saturday, December 13, 2008. Dates for the Physical Ability Examination will be announced. "

    need to be a resident even to take the test?

    Yeah, you must have established residency in the City of Pittsburgh in order to take the exam.

    I'm curious as to how many will apply, as this intake period is significantly longer then the last time PBF was open. A few weeks compared to nearly 6 months

    i would have definitely made the trip out to pitt to test but unfortunately i read that you need to be a resident

    Yeah, PBF requires you to have a residence within the city limits AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. I personally think it is a crappy requirement, especially when most other cities require a county residence or city residence 6 months after your hire date. But apparently they get plenty of applications with that restriction in place.
