Unhappy Tis With Sad And Heavy Heart

That I make the following announcement. I had been advised verbally of this a few weeks ago, but rumours are rumours. Unfortunately, this is not a rumour any longer:

    PROTECTED A PRC 4F C23 513 298

    01 04 181419Z JUL 08 RR RR GGGG D MIL C 3015

    INFO 0113-CFB Borden
    0002-CFSU (Ottawa)

    PROTECTED A D MIL C 3015

    SIC WGF

    BILINGUAL MESSAGE // MESSAGE BILINGUE

SUBJ:POSTING INSTR 298 MCPL HILLS RICHARD RMS CLK

    1. 298 MCPL HILLS RICHARD, OCCUPATION RMS CLK, SEC CL TOP SECRET FOL ENGLISH SL --- DEPENDANTS: M/2001 M/1999

    2. CURRENT POSN: ORGANIZATION 0045 CDLS(W) POSN 000610 WASHINGTON DIST OF COLUMBIA

    3. POSTED ON 15-OCT-2008 TO ORGANIZATION 3827 CFRG HQ POSN 066386 (POS) R3 OPS CLERK BORDEN, ON POS LNG REQ: ENGLISH ESSENTIAL POS LNG PROFILE: ENG

When you translate the English, it means that I am being recalled back to Canada on or around 15 October 2008. This is a year earlier than anticipated, however, they tell me it is "for career development", whatever that means.

I will be moving to Borden, Ontario, or about an hour north of Toronto, for those of you who have been there. The "plus side" I guess is that this will not be a really long posting, as I am working on gaining civilian employment elsewhere. I wasn't quite planning on retirement coming quite as early as next October (that is the plan now) but circumstances sometimes dictate otherwise. "Otherwise" has finally come upon me, it would seem.

I will naturally be looking for a new "Home" with one of the local FD's. Been talking with NVFD a bit because he is from that area, so I have a few starting points.

Didn't we do that once before? Drank all your beer (before it became that watered down horse pee) and then went home.

During the invasion, please note that I wish to remain neutral, however, as a good faith offering, I will now start preparing myself, and learn how to catch Northern Pike, Lake Trout, and Walleye.. Eh... or is it Aye...

I'm going to miss the "local" DC postings!! Will there be a DC-area going away Happy Hour?

NO ya wont miss nuth'n. I can still "read" the DC news from anywhere in the world, it just wont have the "I was walking down the road and..." flavour to it is all.

As for a "Happy Hour"? You betcha. No specific date yet, but it will more than likely be at Sine's in Pentagon City. I like it there, and its easily Metro accessable.....

Sorry to see you go. The offer is still good to come North about 10 blocks and catch some grub and some runs.

It ain't exactly "beer" either George.

And Dickey, my beer comes in a large black can, with a Golden Harp embossed upon it. That fish-pee you show is just that... fish-pee. Kokanee is actually a land locked salmon, and we all know what fish do in water, right? LOL But you are correct, with the precise volume, 5% can make a man forget all his woes.

Rick, you have to stay in Borden long enough for me to get down there so we can have a few "pops". Although who knows how long that will be.

    Rick,

You know we (in the Marine Corps) called you guys?

    Pogues...........or worse.......REMF

You invade the US. you better be heavily armed because I'll shoot back. Just not at you, but in your general direction. Just be sure NOT to ask the French for reinforcements.
