    Default foreign-born firefighters

What's your opinion on foreign-born people becoming U.S. firefighters? What if they were born outside the U.S. but have lived in America for most of their lives? And are U.S. citizens?

In general, it shouldn't be a problem. The only place that it may be an issue is on DoD or DoE facilities that require a security clearance.

I was born in Scotland and spent some years there growing up....but i'm a US citizen....In my applying process nobody has given it a second glance, other than my birth certificate looks different...So ya, why would it matter?

I'd like to throw in my 2 cents.
I am an Aussie who has dual citizenship with the US and would love to be able to continue to pursue my career on that continent.
BUT like most states/countries everyone has you go back to square one to learn it their way.......sucks to some extent but thats life.
I have been talking my brigade and have found that having my passport will make a 6 months swap easier to organise but thats about it.

The only issue could be citizenship.
Many departments require an applicant to be a US citizen in order to work for that department.
