Our department (Williamson County Fire Protection District) recently got a SAFER Grant to hire a firefighter.
8 People initially tested for the position, 5 from in our district and 3 from out of it.
I managed to get the job and start my first day Aug 1st.
I seriously had come to belive I would just be a POC Firefighter and never have a shot at being a Career Firefighter in our area, Thankfully I was wrong :)
Congratulations. Now you'll get to sit back in the lawn chair and watch the planes land.
Is this the first paid guy for your department? I'm thinking the chief is paid, or am I wrong?
not so sure about sittin back in the lawn chair LOL...but any how we have a total of 4 now. Not alot paid but it is a start...when ya have 7 stations it is a long road to staffing them all.Quote:

the worst part is I work 2 10 hour shifts on the weekends but ya have to take the good with the bad.
but the split schedule works great as I also have a computer repair business.

Thanks for the kind words every one......now if I can just make i through my wedding on agust 8th I will be set LOL
should be pretty cool it is going to be a fire fighter themed wedding
