    Default Fireman's Fund Heritage Program

Has anyone else gotten a call from the Fireman's Fund Heritage/Heroes Program recently?
Our department had applied last year for a TIC, but haven't heard anything else.
We just received a call from them, verifying our contact information, and whether we still had the need.
The operator said she didn't know if the program was starting again, but that she was keeping her fingers crossed.

    Anyone else?

A couple of months ago I placed sent an email to a contact at Into the Fire about further awards. At that time a meeting was planned with the NFFF about further awards. 500 for Life was using the same applications for their program. Have not seen any further notices for awards. Hopefully this is a sign that more are coming.

Out of curiosity, did 500 for Life contact the COD or the contact person?

In my case, she called asking for the COD, but when she identified herself, I explained that I was the POC, and the one who had filed the application.

She asked for me directly by name. I wrote the grant request for Fireman's Fund.

Hopefully this is a good sign. Had almost given up on any more funds being disbursed. Good luck to all that have applied.
Just someone trying to help! (And by the way....Thanks for YOUR help!)

In the July/August Fireman's Fund Heritage eNewsletter.

    Congrats to the winners.

‘Into the Fire’ Update: New Grants Announced

Six more fire departments received thermal imaging cameras and other needed equipment from funds generated by the documentary film "Into the Fire" — bringing the total value of grants awarded to $180,000.

Fireman's Fund and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) made the formal announcement at the Fire Department Instructors Conference in Indianapolis.

"We are pleased to be able to award more life-saving equipment to fire departments," says Ronald Jon Siarnicki, executive director of NFFF. "These modern tools not only benefit the communities the firefighters serve, but they help make firefighters safer — reducing accidents and fatalities."

In addition to grants previously awarded to departments in the states of Illinois, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Missouri, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Colorado and South Carolina, the most recent recipients are:

    Exeter Park Volunteer Hose Company
    Exeter, Pennsylvania
    Thermal imaging camera

    Jefferson Fire and Rescue
    Jefferson, Maine
    Thermal imaging camera

    Farmington Hills Fire Department
    Farmington Hills, Michigan
    Thermal imaging camera

    Cressona Fire Company No 1
    Cressona, Pennsylvania
    Thermal imaging camera

    Espen Volunteer Fire Company
    Espen, Kansas
    New water pumps

    Po-mar-lin Fire Company
    Unionville, Pennsylvania
    Turnouts

Since DVD and "Into the Fire" T-shirt sales continue, there will be additional equipment grants in the future, according to Danielle Cagan, director of the Heritage ProgramSM.

"Grant recipients are chosen from the 1,249 proposals that were submitted previously. There is no need to re-submit applications for future rounds of 'Into the Fire' fund awards," says Cagan.
