    Exclamation Water Tank Odor

Has anybody had an issue with their water tank smelling like sulfur. Recently our 750 gallon tank started to smell like sulfur. After numerous flushes the odor comes back in about two weeks. The water actually starts to turn a grayish/black. We have never encountered this odor before. The only thing that we have done differently since we put this 2003 in service is that we changed our A foam cell over to F-500 in December 2007. I have doubts that this is leaking into the tank because the water isn't foaming up. If so can F-500 go bad when mixed/leaked into the tank in small amounts.

    I have my doubts.

Or did we just get some bad hydrant water and something is growing inside?

I have seen this once before I am willing to bet; A your "A" foam cell is leaking or B. somebody may put the other product in the water tank.

I am not familiar with F-500 besides what I found on their web-site. But there shouldnt be to much foaming if the mixture is not aggitated/and or aspirated.

Quick way to check, drain the foam cell and the tank. Re-fill the water tank with clean product, leave the cell empty and see if the water seeps into the cell.

Or as the gentleman stated prior you may just have crummy water

Check your batteries. We had a similar problem turned out that we had a cracked battery that was causing the smell.
