Ogomez, I didn't get any emails. Send me a PM.

Like Ogomez said, class size really won't change. 12 works about the best, 16 is possible but that is the max. We have done bigger and as intensive as our training is it just creates problems.

I have a question which I'm not sure that has been asked or not. But does anyone know what the cut off for the PAT was? Did they take anyone who passed or just a set amount of people?

PAT is pass fail, if you pass it you move on to the next step.

A quick update from the Recruiter: Trainee letters did go out early, and Recruit letters are still on track to go out tomorrow.

(If you live outside of the metro area and are holding your breath waiting for mail, remember that Monday is a holiday!)

You can read all about the PAT on the website, here is a PDF I got from there. As nozzleman said...it is pass fail. You have 8.02 minutes to finish the 9 exercises. If you do it in 8.01 it makes no difference, you will move on the same as the guy who did it in 4.03

But....if the recruiters are watching, they could easily note the ones that are struggling, and the ones that are really pushing it.

I was not so much asking if it was pass or fail but if anyone knew or had an idea about the cut off point for the written to move onto the PAT. Like the minimum score of XX.X% or X amount of people. But thank you anyways for the information.

I thought orals were out of the schedule for this year? Are you on the trainee or firefighter EMT list?

First round (objective) orals are out. Just PAT and Chief's interview.

I got my dates today (trainee).

I just received my reply, and I'm heading to the PAT. No dates as of yet, just the times and dates to participate in practice PAT sessions. (I'm in the Recruit pool, and live in the Portland metro area)

3rdFloor, do you know if they're planning on waiting until after the PAT to tell us our ranking on the list?

nwfire17 - your letter didnt include your ranking? What did it say exactly?
I was told we were going to be ranked off the test.

I thought the recruits were being ranked from the test and the oral board whereas the trainees were ranked just on their test scores. Or at least that is what I have gotten from the posts on this forum.

I'm just wondering what the practice PAT dates/times are

No ranking. My letter is just a generic one that goes out to all candidates of both lists who passed. The letter I have now just says I passed and gives me dates for practice sessions. It sounds like the trainee's who passed got another letter a few days later telling them their actual PAT time and date. So now I'm just waiting to hear more.

It sounds as though there might be a little confusion -- if you applied as a FF/EMT/Paramedic, you should have received a letter from HR that will give you your ranked placement on the eligibility list. nwfire17, it sounds like the letter you received was sent to you by PF&R regarding the practice PAT sessions that are available for all Trainee and FF/EMT/Paramedic candidates who passed the written (computer-based) exam. Obviously, your placement on the eligibility list will determine if you get the opportunity at a Chief's Interview and PAT test (that would be for a "job").

If you received a letter from PF&R, you should have received a letter from HR first. Nonetheless, ALL letters from PF&R have gone into the mail.

    Breath-holding may commence.

One more note worth mentioning: The process for Trainees is a bit different. You have to pass the physical agility test before candidate pool is created.

So there are multiple letters going out?

Is that correct? One from HR and one from PF&R?

I was told by the recruiter that there was a ranked list for Recruits.

Lol, great. The letter I got today was from PF&R signed by a Division Chief from the training and safety division. I did apply for the FF EMT/Paramedic list. Yep, still holding my breath until the one from HR comes then! Thanks 3rdFloor.

    Yes, and yes.

That's correct -- and why I said, "The process for Trainees is a bit different. You have to pass the physical agility test before a candidate pool is created."

Thanks for the info, just wanted to clarify.

Hopefully people start posting their ranked number!

    Good luck to all !
