    Default NFL thread

Since NFL talk is starting to invade a few other threads, I figured "what the heck" and decided to start up a NFL thread since we've already go preseason games in the books

Of course, as an Atlanta Falcons fan, we know not to expect to much, but Matt Ryan's performance Saturday night makes it harder not to

Hey, the NFL never invades, it is always right there, under the surface.

This is going to be a tough season for many Packer fans, including myself. Something is seriously wrong in the Packers organization. The only upside is that the entire NFC North is a very weak division.

I like McCarthy as a coach, and I like the Packers as a team. They have a good scheme and the players to run it, except at quarterback.

ESPN has the Bengals/Packers game on tonight, with the crowning of the Aaron Rodgers era as quarterback. I hope he proves my lack of "confidence" with him wrong.

If Brett stays healthy, he may play another 3-5 years, and play at a level close to his MVP years.

I'm not sure exactly what it is, but Favre looked different in the press conferences after the trade. He looked revitalized, enthusiastic, excited, something we hadn't seen a whole lot out of him here the past couple of seasons, in hind sight.

I always thought the Jets were a decent team. In the 2006 season, they came into Lambeau and destroyed a Packers team that was getting to be decent.

It is still very tough to see Brett in a different uniform. In a lot of ways this was an unprecedented move in the NFL, at least in the modern era. Many of us think that Favre is still near the top of his game. He is still able to avoid the rush, keep his balance, direct an offense, and he still has that cannon in his right arm. I never thought he should have retired in the first place.

My fear in all of this is that the Packers are going to crumble this season. I think that not because of Favre leaving, but because of what caused him to leave. What the heck is going on up there? What kind of dysfunction is in that locker room now?

In any case, I hope Favre has a decent season, and made the right choice. If you're a Jets fan, you have to remember that Favre has to be taken with a grain of salt; he'll give you those four and five touchdown games, and then have three INT's that make you shake your head.

Sorry for the side-track again. I can't help it!

I've always been a Brett Favre fan, unless he was playing the Falcons. Of course, considering Atlanta drafted him...

I hope he does well with the Jets, and I hope Aarron Rodgers is what Green Bay's front office hopes he is as well. Tonight will go a long way toward answering that question, won't it?

The New Jets HQ has just moved into my back yard. Well close enough. When Farve flew into Morristown Airport a few weeks ago I counted 5 copters over head. It is going to be real interesting to see how much traffic and other interesting stuff this brings in. It should be fun.

Let's discuss something worthwhile. Gustav didn't tear up the Superdome so my beloved Saints have a home this season. Deuce McAllister is back from the knee. Reggie Bush is back from the knee. Jeremy Shockey is a true receiving threat at tight end. We have a Middle Linebacker in Vilma. The secondary is better with Randall Gay. Things look good in the bayou
