    Default vehicle award question

If you stated in your project narrative that the unit you would be purchasing would be a pumper, equipped with a 1250 gal. tank, is it possible to lower that tank size? We are finding that with a 1250 tank we may have a length problem fitting it in our station ( even though we have already eliminated things like top mount pump and bumper extension)

For the most part you must complete the scope of the project as written. To make changes will require approval from AFG through an amendment. Contact your FPS for guidance in the matter, they should point you in the right direction.

Should not be a problem. But you have to talk to your contact with AFG. Present your case and have all your facts together when you talk to them. We lowered the tank size on our Tanker from an 1800 to a 1250 (1288) due to chassis complications. As long as you stay within the guidelines of a pumper you should be ok. They told us since it was a tanker, as long as we kept 1200 we would still be within the scope of a tanker. Unless you specified your truck to be a pumper/tanker the tank may not matter since they focus more on pump size. Remember! get everything in writing. If they tell you anything get them to email you the same reply and keep all documetation. It worked for us, maybe you will have the same luck. Just my opinion.

FYI, we e-mailed DHS and they said there would be no problem going from a 1250 to a 1000 gal. tank, The reply has already been printed and placed into the grant folder!
