I imagine all the it folks are tied up running the virtual eoc stuff fema is running now. You know there is a lot of band width getting sucked up with all of the hurricane prep going on.
All of the folks still in harms way it is time to get the family out. Sometimes it sucks having to be the one to have to stay and face the storm.

They usually do backups and maintenance over holidays knowing that nothing is going to be done as far as new awards and whatnot. Could be a switch down for being bad or even on purpose to keep traffic from hitting the server. We had all sorts of tricks for keeping people from doing stuff when we did similar things back in my keyboard jockey days.
Doubt it's EOC traffic, they run that stuff out of a different server if not a different building. Servers are so cheap anymore most run a server farm for each application. Increases up time and throughput. Splitting applications that way keeps one crash from taking down more than one critical program at a time. More nerd knowledge that I don't need anymore...need to free up the brain cells. Being a holiday weekend I'll take Cliff Clavin's advice: alcohol kills slower brain cells, so if I drink more the slow ones will go so I'll get smarter.
Yeah, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Great... My Treasurer gave me the paperwork to put in for about a $13,500 reimbursement/payment for the 48 pair of boots and 48 hoods that came in during August on our 2007 grant, and now I can't log-on to process the payment! He gets nervous when he's got that much money "borrowed" from operational accounts while waiting for grant reimbursement. Late Friday, we were notified that the coats and pants shipped on Wednesday, and will be delivered this upcoming Tuesday. Wait until he sees that $71,000 bill! He'll need to double-up on his bloodpressure meds this week...........

You know the least they could do is shut down the whole site so you don't have to waist the time of trying to log in a few thousand times
