Woman critically injured in Orem afternoon rollover

OREM — A 29-year-old Orem woman was ejected from her car Tuesday afternoon after she over-corrected from a drift and her car rolled over the middle barrier on I-15 in north Orem.
Troopers are still investigating why the woman's Toyota Land Cruiser drifted off the road past the 1600 North exit and hit the right barrier, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Cameron Roden.

From there, officials say they believe the woman overcorrected across three lanes of traffic and hit the left concrete barrier, the impact flipped her car over median barriers and ejected her from the car, Roden said.

The accident, around 12:25 p.m., shut down the HOV and fast lanes on both sides of the median, which were closed for several hours while officers conducted their investigation of the accident, Roden said.

The woman was initially taken to Timpanogos Regional Hospital in critical condition, then flown to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Roden said.

Officials still don't know if the woman was wearing her seat belt.
