Hello from Virginia

Wanted to stop in and say hello. I've been a Police Officer in Virginia for a little under 6 years and I finally took the plunge and volunteered with my local volunterr company. I start my training in a few weeks and I am looking forward to it. Who knows, if I like it, I might make a career change.

Any advice is welcome!

Biting the bullet and seriously pursuing a career as a fire fighter. My wife is on board, which is extremely important to me. I say biting the bullet because it will be a pay cut for me. Running the hire process with a few Northern VA departments that look to be great places to work at. I am presently furthest along with Fairfax County having passed the written exam, filled out my personal history paperwork and passed the CPAT. I know it is extremely competitive getting in to any of these department. I hope my good test scores, character and CPAT performance help me stand out in the process.

I'm also "new." I've been surfing these forums for quite a while, and finally signed up.

I have two older brothers, one of them is a police officer. He also joined the volunteer fire department after becoming a police officer. He is now a fire fighter/EMT and loves doing all of the different jobs.
