Hiring Question (Boston)

After receiving the "card" and singing the acceptance sheet what can be expected next? Boston is saying that there is a "lottery" can anyone explain this? Thanks

You show up for the lottery and hope you are picked. You dont have to show up for the lottery but I would strongly suggest it. The selection process has changed a little since I got on Boston because of the new test they have now. Before when we had the old test if you were high enough on the list when you got the card you got an application when you signed the list. Example: The first time I signed the list I wasnt in striking distance to get a seat in that academy class so I didnt get an application, but the class after that I got an application and then eventually got appointed. Keep your head up and fingers crossed. Anyone who gets on Boston is truly lucky (myself included). Its the best job and you will love going to work everyday.

Okay. I've very confused on this lottery? I'm currently involved in the hiring process for the final academy to be put through of the 2006-2008 list. Does the lottery pertain to the 2008-2010 list? The new one that requires a PAT and Written test to make the one score? I've never heard of any lottery? Can someone please tell me more about it. Thanks for your time, it's appreciated
