    Default Written exam coming up...

I have an upcoming written exam to start the process in becoming a career firefighter... the general knowledge (105 questions) and 50 opinion oriented questions specifically.

Not having taken any sort of meaningful tests in some time, this is a little nerve racking. Not too worried about the general knowledge, but the opinion/personality part is a bit of a mystery going into it. Anyway, looking for some input, tips, pointers, etc.

A follow up... took the test and got a grade in the 90's. I'm pretty excited and happy about that. I know it is way early in the process... but I'm pretty pumped to get into this line of work and career. This is a great start... now I need to get my info packet done and pass the CPAT.

I spent a good part yesterday evening reading through this forum and running over the booklet from the safety website along with another book which also had some practice tests. Sorry for generalities, but they are on my PC downstairs and I'm not recalling their titles and sources off the top of my head right now. If anything running through the tests was a good brush up.

I will start keeping a journal to document the process. Just wanted to share the good news and some joy.

What department are you trying out for?

I am in the process for Fairfax County. I would pursue Loudon County as well, but they do not presently appear to be accepting applications and/or actively hiring. Both seem to be great places to serve and work.

Got my letter with written test results, CPAT test date and a reminder to get my paperwork done. I'm waiting on a NC driving record at present, otherwise I'd be done with that already. There are some questions I had about the personal history form as well, but I am compiling all my Q's so I don't make multiple calls.

There is a thread specifically about Fairfax County in this forum that I have been reading over. Some great reading. I wish the process weren't so long, but it is... what it is.
