home mortgages for volunteer firefighters

Does anyone know if Volunteer firefighters have a special home mortgage that we can get? I am a first time home buyer and want to get a house in my district.

I have found that if you are full time you can get a HUD house for half price but I am not full time.

Any information on grants or loans for me would be great!

This is where my wife (a teacher) and I got our mortgage. Not that I have a lot of experience getting house loans, but it seemed like a relatively painless process to us and the gal we dealt with was good to work with.

First time buyer? You should be able to get a very good deal through HUD. Find their "first time buyer" programs.

You can usually get a better rate as a first time home buyer than what they offer for being a firefighter. A lot of states do bond loans, or did before the financial meltdown. Ours was about a point and a half lower on interest than anything else we looked at.
