    Default Explorer Program

At the risk of starting a thread that is going to hell fast, lol:

We are thinking about maybe starting an Explorer post with our local scouts. Can any members that are in CHARGE with helping an explorer post give me some input and guidelines?

    Thanks

PS - Jake, I have the "updated" SOGs that I can forward your way to give him. I won't have them until Monday thought because I have to scan them at school in the office with the PDF machine.

You must have the support of your local boy scout council or it won't fly. They cover all the insurance and background checks for your advisors/board members. It takes a big dedication of the department to take the time and effort to show the explorers what its all about and to do training and activities. I'm sure you already know this but you have to have support from your local city council too and you might have to alter or create an ordinance to allow explorers to do things on City property. We had to back in 1990 when we started ours.
