hey guys, i am an industrial designer (product designer) and am looking to make a product that will hopefully make your lives easier.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas/ suggestions for any products that would make your daily routine easier? namely any sort of device for cleaning your equipment, rig, or station after a call. I would really appreciate any input, no matter what area it is you would like a revamped/ redesigned product or tool. thanks a lot for your time, i really appreciate what you guys are doing.
Best -jeremy

How bout a machine to clean up the hose, SCBA's, tools, equipment, wash trucks, etc. after a long dirty fire....all automatically?
Oh wait, we have that already, its called the PROBIE!!!
Seriously, maybe something to do with hazardous materials monitoring or protective clothing, smaller, lighter thermal imaging, or something to prevent budget, personnel, and equipment cuts?

Something that will help the other platoons locate the dishwasher, washer and dryer, mops, brooms, trash cans, teach them to fold towels, make bunks, wash the truck and tell us how busy they "really" were would be nice.

"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

any products you wish they made
haha, excellent. well thanks guys, i liked the idea of looking into a hazard monitoring system, and streamlining the thermal imaging. i was wondering how you guys clean your turnout gear, and other equipment, like just a washing machine every once and a while? i am looking to design some products that would be branded under "Electrolux", a company that makes vacuums, washing machines/ dryers, dish washers, and stoves. if anyone had any ideas about possible products that may be related to these types of products that would be much appreciated. thanks again guys.

I wish someone would invent a sort of "fire extinguisher" grenade. Something I could throw into a fire room, and it would dispense an aerosol that would inhibit the fire's chemical reaction.
If only someone could make one of these devices

Just a little bit late, but it's a great idea.
I believe there are enough "tools" in the fire service. If you know what i mean. No room for anymore

If I think of something worth making/marketing, I'm sure as hell not telling it to anyone else.

Easy question...the same thing I want in my backyard: A Moneytree!!
A Fire Chief has ONLY 1 JOB and that's to take care of his fireman. EVERYTHING else falls under this.

If you empty it you have to throw it out instead of sticking it back in the freezer for someone else to toss. Probably done by the same person who'll bring a new roll of toilet paper in with them and leave it on the floor when finished leaving the old roll with 2-3 sheets on it.
