I called yesterday and got a different story as well. She told me that they had 2 classes going in jan . One on the 8th and 22nd. And the were both filled. The next one would be end of feb or march. But when I called the time before she told me I had passed everything and was set the take the psych and medical but didn't know when she would be scheduling them. So I'm confused.....

I heard this from a Lieutenant that has worked there for over 20 years and is involved with the employment process. From what I hear they are picking up the ones who are completely done with the process and then implementing a hiring freeze.

I wouldn't sweat it if you are already in the process, I know they are desprite for medics. It may just be talk, but the way the economy is who knows! Hope it is just a rumor. Good luck!

I called in today to see where I stood in the process. I was informed that they are having a hiring freeze and that all the people that have completed most of the process will be placed in a hiring pool and then possibly called when they start hiring again.

I called up today to see where I stood in the hiring process. They told me that they are having a hiring freeze and that the remaining applicants will be placed in a hiring pool. She said they will call from the hiring pool when they decide to hire again.

well, if your a medic, and you're done with the process, I would think you have a good shot. I'm sure all of you that went through the process realized how desperate they were for medics. This is the first time they have given preference to medics from my understanding.
i called yesterday and was told something along the same lines. I was told by human resources they will be calling people for interviews next week. Good luck to all of you!

That's what they told me as well yesterday, that all remaining applicants will be placed in a pool. I've completed the interview but still have the medical and psych. left, and they told me I will be placed in the pool.

What if you're FF/EMT? Anyone know if they'll be hiring any if they're done with the process. Or if it's just Medics right now.

I haven't heard from Orange County in weeks. I got all the way through the Chief interview. I called when I heard about the hiring freeze and they said I would be placed on a list for when they open up hiring again.
