I just passed the written at Melrose, got a 90! Now I have to go for their physical, poly and oral. If there is anyone here that could give me some insight into the their testing I would really appreciate it

It was a cake walk when I took it about 8 years ago. The real question is do you have family working in the town? Even with my great test scores, interviews, references and "family pull" back then and a guarantee from the commission and mayor. The relatives of village employees went first.
Slightly aggravating, but I ended up better off. Another point to the matter is there is also going to be a general election in the spring and may end up with a regime change. Good luck anyway.

Sorry, but the small town politics still go well in cook county. Good luck though.
