Got this e-mail today with quotes from Barack Obama's 2 books:
Why is all of this going unnoticed by the media???? They send 1000 reporters to Alaska to dig up something on Sarah Palin and they have this right in front of their eyes!
From Dreams of My Father:'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'
From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'
From Dreams of My Father:'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'
From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'
From Dreams of My Father:'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'
And FINALLY the Most Damning one of ALL of them!!!
From Audacity of Hope:'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

Why isn't the press covering this?

Have you actually read the books?
Your probably right about the MSM and detailed coverage, but it cuts both ways - what about Alaska Independence Party founder Joe Vogler > kind of makes a mockery of McCain's "Country First" theme. Palin has supported the AIP and her husband was member.
"Voglerís greatest moment of glory was to be his 1993 appearance before the United Nations to denounce United States ďtyrannyĒ before the entire world and to demand Alaskaís freedom. The Alaska secessionist had persuaded the government of Iran to sponsor his anti-American harangue.
Thatís right Ö Iran. The Islamic dictatorship. The taker of American hostages. The rogue nation that McCain and Palin have excoriated Obama for suggesting we diplomatically engage. That Iran."
You should look a lot deeper than what you get from the MSM, but you posted a fabricated sets of quotes regarding Obama while you fail to mention Palin's real connections to AIP. Both tickets require real analysis to get by the media hype, but after you're done looking, you have to call a spade a spade, either way.

The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened. --Norman Mattoon Thomas, 6 time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America

The person who started this thread posted a question. A request for information was made regarding the credibility of the material emailed to him. Or her. I didn't see the name.
The first reply basically said not to believe everything you see on the internet, but here is some opposing info from the internet that you should believe.
The second reply was just an insult from an individual who usually replies rudely instead of giving a reply with substance when it regards a differing political opinion.
The way our politicians conduct themselves can many times be embarrasing, to say the least. Their conduct and general attitude is often detrimental to our country and serves no constructive purpose. Such antics are divisive and uncalled for.
Don't think for a second that when you act like them, you do not fall victim to the same disgust that follows a political system where most of the key players have the lowest approval numbers in history.
When using the same tactics, do you ever wonder what your approval rating is? You may say that you are not looking for approval, but a large part of that equation is credibility.
Leave political tactics to the politicians. You're better than that. Aren't you?

I would like to beleive that the person who started this thread got the email and believed it to be true. And if it were true then people needed to know about it.
- First rule. Don't believe anything you read in a chain letter.
- Second Rule. Use some reputable sources (like snopes or factcheck) to get the real answers.
- Third Rule. Check more than one source.
- Forth Rule. Check out the source. Many turn out to be conservative think tanks are liberal supporters (Heartland Institute, Huffington Post, Moveon.org).
- Fifth Rule. Ask your self does this really make sense.
Now did you hear about the guy who started his house on fire with a mouse? Or how about the local 7 year old with cancer, and McDonalds will give a dollar to her for everyone who forwards the email? Or hey, how about the exploding Glade things that make the room smell funny?

Some things to think about:
1. Are these quotes taken out of context?
Is this a story of him telling his coming of age story? If so, there is nothing wrong here. Describing racial tension, describing a person near and influential to him that was describing black/white tension is not " wrong."
2. Are these talking points demonstrated in Obamas actions?
Do we see Obama in office currently misusing his power? Does he plan on doing this when he gets in office?
Remember, these were the same emails that said Obama was a terrorist and muslim and will create sharia law. ( he is baptist)
I would like to actually read the book and see how these quotes actually add up.

The ridiculous desperation of you people is just downright laughable.
What a joke.
