    Default hose cart display "shed"

    Hello all

We are planning on building a small building (12x12)to display our hosecart that dates back @1900. What I am asking has anyone seen a design that would be appropiate( not look cheesy) to display this proud moment of our towns .. We thought about a shed style roof but would like to do better...any ideas or referances to sites would be much appreciated

Just curious, it sounds like this was in service in your dept? Cool piece of history, and I am glad you are taking good care of it.

Do you have any idea how it was stored when it was in inservice? That might give you an idea.

    Thumbs up Hmmm...........

I'd start by reviewing any photos taken back in that era, assuming that you want to be "Historically Correct", or reasonably so. Photos will show the general style and material used in buildings back then, which should guide you in creating something that will look like it belonged to that time frame. For instance, you may find that a small structure looking like a one car Garage, covered with Cedar Shakes and using Swing out "Barn Doors" will fit nicely, but that something with Vinyl Siding and a Roll Up Door would be totally out of place. Good Luck with this and please let know how it turns out.

Well, back then it was impossible to get those wooden hoses on reels, right?

It would to be good to post this in the BUFFS section of the forums.... Good people there to help you out.

As far as what i'd do, I would look for pictures of your old departments houses. Other than that check out old historical fire halls and houses from your area. Hope that gives a good start.
